textile; textile (function unknown); barkcloth

A large, rectangular bark cloth made from the bark of the genus ficus. The cloth is a heavier weight than others in this collection. Lab report 2945 suggests it might have been used as a blanket or as a mattress. It is mid-brown in colour with a ribbed texture. The patterning is laid out akin to a carpet, with a border and centre field. The centre field is made up of five longitudinal rectangular panels. A black six-pointed star has been painted at regular intervals, surrounded by concentric circles with a dot in the middle. Each of the five panels is separated by straight lines and the border pattern of black circles is framed with four black straight lines.
