mask (dance & live theatre)

Carved, wooden mask painted light brown and grey. Forehead wrinkled, cheeks and chin sagging. Holes for the eyes with red lines surrounding them. Large, broken nose with drops of blood painted inside and below the nostrils, indicating a nosebleed. Large open mouth, painted red, with six large and irregular teeth. Bulging cleft chin. The mask, which represents an 'ugly' face, was used in schemenlaufen festivals.
