Pair of chopsticks for everyday use, made of plastic, square in section tapered to circular bottom end. Decorated on the upper frontal part with incised landscape scene of mountains and pavilion and filled with green and red paint; above which an incised Chinese inscription filled with black paint. The inscription on the chopsticks reads 錦江春色來天地 ‘jin jiang chun se lai tian di’, which is a sentence from the poem ‘From an Upper Story’ (in Chinese: 登樓) by a famous ancient poet 杜甫 ‘Du Fu’ (712-770, Tang dynasty). It roughly means that ‘The Silken River, bright with spring, floats between earth and heaven’.
