textile (function unknown); textile

A large textile made of two near equal sized rectangular sections, hand sewn together along one of the selvedges. It is made of locally produced singles spun silk. There are two narrow white stripes regularly spaced across the weft (cotton?). The fabric is a warp dominant tabby weave save for areas of gauze weave, which creates rows of holes, either single or up to five rows at a time. Near each warp end is a narrow band of twining; green and white and green and blue in one section, green and yellow at both ends in the other. This is worked in artificial silk. The warp ends are unfinished.
