netsuke

Netsuke in the form of a study in walrus ivory of an old man's head, fairly crudely carved. The eyes are round with dots at the centre. He has a big nose with a hole in the left hand side of it, an open mouth and a moustache and beard. He is wearing a cap with a flat top and two horizontal lines across the front. At the back his hair is indicated below the cap.
