charango

Bolivian charango with armadillo base and light wooden sound board. Dark wood neck, with 6 pegs, 1 original (5 replicas created by the Royal Academy of Music's luthier department). Strung with brass, low-tension strings (donated by the RAM's piano department) to prevent damage to the instrument's soft bridge. The instrument originally had one high-tension steel string, and has never been strung with gut strings.
