Caimans are all freshwater species and characteristic of South America. They are found primarily in the Amazon and Orinoco River basins, but also S.Mexico to N.Argentina, and the Islands of Trinidad & Tobago. Also found in the U.S. in southern Florida, and introduced to the islands of Cuba and Puerto Rico.
These objects are only a part of our collections, of which there are more than 350,000 objects. This information comes from our collections database.
