








Nanduni, wooden two-stringed lute. The neck and narrow, waisted body made of a single piece of wood, halved longitudinally, hollowed out and fixed together again. Flat back. The two sloping sides of the table meet at a central ridge carved with a single sound hole. There is evidence on the lower neck of where the raised frets were attached. The peg-box with holes for two pegs and surmounted by a turned wooden finial. Tall (75mm) wooden nut and fixed bridge (55mm). The string holder is a metal bar fixed to the table by two uprights. Pegs and strings missing. Inscribed on the back of the neck: 'THE GIFT OF/MRS G.BOYLE/NO.'
