Oval paper label: 'Lachenal & Co, Patent Concertina Manufacturers, London.' 7.88" wide, 10.12" long, a very 'stretched octagon' shape, raised ebony ends, fully fretted, bevelled. 57 keys: 28 each side plus 1 air. Silver capped nickel. Later Wheatstone black leather straps with 'Wheatstone' stamped clip. Six-fold black leather bellows with 6 pairs of valve holes on lower folds. Square end broad steel reeds, screw mounted on brass reed plates, in turn screwed onto individual wooden chambers, all fixed into the upper action. The combination of broad reeds and turned reed chambers gives a sweet tone.
