armlet (ornament (personal adornment))

One of two armlets from the Wai Wai people of Guyana. The armlet is a cylinder tube of tree bark, with plant fibre tassels connected to the rim, from which a chain of small red feathers are attached for decoration. There are also two long plant fibre threads attached to the armlet, from which large eagle feathers are connected. The feathers are black and beige and get progressively larger toward the tip.
