Dark brown and black stone pipe bowl with a large rim and a shank at 45 degrees from the bowl. The bowl has a lid which screws into the top. This is round and flat with a spherical handle, surrounded by 5 small holes. There is a shallow indented border very close to the inside edge of the lid, this along with the holes makes it resemble a button when viewed from above. There is a small round white label stuck to the bottom of the shank, on which is written " A. h 18.
There is part of an old display with the object. Printed in black on white, now yellowed paper it reads "[missing ] E BOWL. [missing] with screw cover. German. [missing ] d., 2 1/2 in. (Bragge Collection)." Then handwritten in black ink "A.H 18."
