carving (art)

Carving of figures and flowers made of a length of ivory tusk. The carved decoration is in horizontal bands, with a border below of two bands of petals, the main section depicting three figures, each set in an archway, below floral and vegetal motifs set around an interlocking ribbon design. The top border is of rows of petals, probably intended to be lotus petals, and a band of ropework. At each end is an undecorated section.
