Slender silver-mounted Ottoman short-sword, Yataghan, of the type often ascribed to Crete. The blade, of conventional form, is cut with a single narrow fuller. The hilt is made from silver alloy and embossed with rococo ornament, martial panoplies and a sailing ship (all traditional ornaments).
For a discussion of yataghans see Elgood 2009, Chapter 8.
