axe (ceremonial weapons)

Ceremonial axe with a v-shaped wooden shaft decorated with areas of carved geometric design, infilled with white pigment, probably lime. There are residues of blue pigment on the shaft, and vegetable fibre or cane strips on the shaft, near the blade. It has a smooth, dark green head with a curved edge, and a strip of resinous material across one side of the blade.
