Jonathan Whitson Cloud
Jonathan is a Knowledge and Information Management specialist with over four decades of experience across some of the UK’s most respected institutions, including the BBC, National Portrait Gallery, Tate, the British Museum, and the Horniman Museum.
His career has taken him from film editing and early digital media projects at the BBC, through a period of recovery and reinvention, to leading digital transformation and information governance in the cultural heritage sector.
Jonathan specialises in helping organisations unlock the value of their data: designing and implementing systems, ensuring compliance and governance, and aligning information strategy with institutional goals. His expertise spans metadata strategy, data migration, records management, and the application of AI and machine learning in cultural contexts.
Jonathan is also an active contributor to the professional community: chairing national and international working groups, lecturing at UCL and Goldsmiths, as well as volunteering as a long‑term responder for a national survivors support charity.
What drives him is the belief that well‑managed knowledge is not just an administrative, technical burden, but the foundation of truth, equity, peace and simplicity.
