Misa Tamura

Misa Tamura joined the Horniman Museum and Gardens as Conservation Manager in 2023.
As a manager as well as a practising conservator, Misa leads the Museum’s conservation programme to look after the physical, technological and material aspects of the collection. Her small, but formidable, team is responsible for providing the collection with a stable environment, mitigating agents of material deterioration, supporting their structural integrity, and ultimately providing the respectful cultural care that they deserve. Prior to her current role at the museum, Misa worked in various museums and higher education institutions as a specialist conservator of organic material and a teaching fellow. As a proud adopted South Londoner, she is thrilled to be part of the team at the Museum.
