The Horniman Museum will be closed from 24-26 December. The Horniman Gardens will be closed 25 December only.
Carved wooden mask in the shape of a bird, the base of the mask being the flat top of the head, and the apex being the pointed beak. It is decorated overall with blue/mauve pigment with dark detailing, and white and pink for the inside of the beak. There is a hole to one side, possibly for suspension, with a crack running alongside it.
These objects are only a part of our collections, of which there are more than 350,000 objects. This information comes from our collections database. Some of this is incomplete and there may be errors. This part of the website is also still under construction, so there may be some fields repeated or incorrectly formatted information.
