The Horniman Museum will be closed from 24-26 December. The Horniman Gardens will be closed 25 December only.
Spoon carved from a single piece of wood. The length of the handle is decorated with carved fretwork, with 10 pairs of holes on each side of a central panel that on side-view shows a horned animal. The tip of the handle is rounded, with two holes of 1.5 cm diameter. A semicircle has been cut from the very tip of the handle, and there is a crack proceeding downwards from this.
These objects are only a part of our collections, of which there are more than 350,000 objects. This information comes from our collections database.
