Nursery plate with a picture of a mother leading her child towards an elderly man leaning on a stick, in a hilly landscape scene. There is a rhyme on the front: 'Who when a babe in leading strings / Would haste to me on pleasure's wings / And bring me many pretty things / My Grandfather.' There is embossed decoration around the rim, and a transfer print decoration with added colour detail. On the base is a maker's mark, saying 'Stevenson'. The plate was made in Staffordshire.
