The ownership of this object was transferred to Nigeria’s National Commission for Museums and Monuments (NCMM) in November 2022.

A woven bag (Ẹkpo). Benin City. Circa 1897. The bag has a dark brown stripe running down the middle of it, and a thickly plaited handle attached at the top. The bag has an extended woven flap.

Possibly for carrying dried fish. Attirubution source is the old label with the black border. Toni Busuttil, 2021-08-05
