Michael Salter-Church appointed Chair of Trustees for the Horniman Museum and Gardens

DCMS has today announced the appointment of Michael Salter-Church MBE as Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Horniman.

Michael has been appointed for a four-year term commencing 14 August 2022. He takes over from our outgoing Chair Eve Salomon after her period of service came to an end.

He is an elected member of the Council of the National Trust, the UK’s largest charity for environmental and heritage conservation, and is Director of External Affairs, Policy & Sustainability at Openreach Ltd.

Michael founded the Community Interest Company that organised London’s LGBTQ+ Pride event 2013-2022, turning it into the capital’s third largest annual event and receiving the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. You can read more in Michael’s biography.

Michael joins the Horniman at an exciting time, as we work on delivering our Reset Agenda – widening our audiences, diversifying our workforce, addressing our institutional history and becoming greenhouse gas neutral. He brings with him exceptional communications expertise, across sectors and with a focus on diversity and sustainability. We are very much looking forward to working with him.
