Christmas shopping with a difference
The Horniman online shop comes just in time for Christmas, and has something to suit the whole family with the bright, bold designs across the range.
Even better, every t-shirt and hoodie you buy in the shop helps to fund our work. Something as simple as buying a tote bag helps us to run our educational programmes, look after our collections and buildings.
The Museum was closed for most of the past two years as part of the pandemic, and during that time we lost vital income. There has never been a more important time to support the Horniman.
Working with Teemills
The choice to partner with Teemills was important to us due to their excellent ecological credentials.
They have developed a circular system, where products can be returned once worn out to be recycled into new products. Real-time printing means that products are only made once they are ordered, lowering waste from surplus stock. Packaging is plastic free, and made from paper or card which can be recycled.
The range itself uses cotton from organic farming. Their processes don’t use toxic pesticides and fertilisers, but instead rely on co planting, insect traps and manure, which encourages biodiversity. Their water use is also carefully managed. The monsoons in Northern India supply almost all of their water, which combined with their organic farming means less water waste. In the dyeing process, 95% of the water used is recovered, cleaned and recirculated.
