Pounder made from a section of bamboo, bound towards the base with three bands of plaited rattan, open at top end. Lid formed from a shorter section of bamboo, which has been worked to fit inside the main barrel, with a small hole in the internode. Through this hole passes a plunger formed from a straight narrow length of bamboo, to which at the base is fitted a wooden disc with three holes drilled in it.
