The Horniman Museum will be closed from 24-26 December. The Horniman Gardens will be closed 25 December only.
Bengali sacrifical knife, Rum Dao, with a large steel blade with a recurved end surmounted by a brass knob. The blade is decorated with various chased designs of a floral nature, and also a stylised human eye, which are filled with a red substance, possibly enamel, in the incisions. The handle is wooden, with a brass pommel.
These objects are only a part of our collections, of which there are more than 350,000 objects. This information comes from our collections database. Some of this is incomplete and there may be errors. This part of the website is also still under construction, so there may be some fields repeated or incorrectly formatted information.
