Warp-faced striped cotton skirt cloth woven in three sections and sewn together at the selvedges. Each panel has dark blue stripes of equal width, alternating with natural-coloured stripes, one slightly thinner than the blue stripe, and one only two ends wide. The cloth edges are joined with sections of blue and red zig zag embroidery and the warp ends have an attractive overstich, again using red and blue cotton threads. It has a large tear. This type of skirt cloth, or 'tapis', is worn folded over in front and fastened with a belt below the navel. A waistcloth is worn on ceremonial occasions. [Textile]
