
Wooden splint comb. The splints are secured by basketry and wood, and there is nautilus shell inlay set in parinarium nut resin, with basketry at the base with a cord attachment.
Comb ornament of separate sticks bound with fibre and consolidated with putty, blackened and inlaid with pearlshell. Combs of this type are characteristic of southeast Solomon Islands, particularly Makira and Ulawa but also south Malaita, see Burt, Akin and Kaw’ioloa, 2009, 71.
