tankard (food service)

Turned and carved tankard with burwood body, a hinged lid and handle, on three feet. On the top of the lid is a central carved decoration of vegetal form within incised concentric incisions. The lid has a thumb lift in the shape of a lion rampant, possibly representing the royal lion of Norway. A carved rosette on the outside of the hinge pin above the handle, which has carved decoration on the outside.
