helmet (headwear (armour: body armour))

Basketry hat. Conical shape, made in one piece of twilled narrow canes, oval base with thicker reinforcing cane strip on the outside. Exterior decoration consisting of alternate red and yellow vertical stripes (and one dark brown on each side in the middle), made by overlaying the base with twilling in the same sized red cane (and dark brown) strips and yellow orchid stem. A thicker red dyed cane strip wound five times around the exterior near the base. Two plumes of coarse straight black hair attached, one at the front and one at the top. A loop of twisted fibre attached at the top (as though for hanging it up.)
