Wooden crossbow. Simple construction; the shaft fixed transversely through a hole in the stock. Both elements of very hard wood, and the shaft almost inflexible. The stock is notched and has an ivory trigger release. Top of the stock grooved for reception of arrow. Strung with waxed, plaited vegetable fibre. Fired from sitting position, with feet on shaft. Used for birds.
