Axe or sword, dao. Long metal blade of basic triangular shape: single edged curved blade, ridge along the length on one side near the back/top, concave end. Short wooden haft, with three bands of plaited cane, one longer, around the haft where the blade is inserted. One side of haft end decorated with four rows of four longer tufts of red dyed hair fringe, probably goat’s hair.
