Axe, dao. Metal blade of basic triangular shape: short, single edged curved blade, flat end, two cut-out three-quarter moon shapes on the back/top side. Short reinforcing metal cylinder around haft-end where the blade is inserted, with a strip of dyed red cane wound six times around haft: the rest of the wooden haft bound with plaited fibre covered in dark resin along whole length. One side of haft end decorated with red dyed hair fringe (probably goat’s hair). Disc-shaped white label marked `18’ previously stuck on, removed 7/7/2009.
