Rectangular stencil for textile dyeing made from brown paper stained and sized with persimmon juice. The cut-out design consists of foliate motifs, interspersed with small bat silhouettes, and 3 detailed larger bat motifs. On the front is a small rectangular seal imprint which reads: ' KANEKO-YA (the Kaneko company), Shirako'. On the reverse is what appears to be a rectangular seal print with more elaborate characters.
