Face mask made from an oval piece of leather, with cutouts for eyes and mouth, and the bottom part cut, lapped and stitched to form a chin. Pieces of fringed and pierced leather are attached with string forming facial hair and a crown. The nose is formed of a separate piece of folded leather inserted in a cut and stitched on (wood splints used for reinforcement). Details are painted on in black, red, yellow and white pigment. There are holes each side and at the top for fastenings.
These objects are only a part of our collections, of which there are more than 350,000 objects. This information comes from our collections database. Some of this is incomplete and there may be errors. This part of the website is also still under construction, so there may be some fields repeated or incorrectly formatted information.
