Paper packet for a face mask with printed image of two pigeons flying over factories with smoking chimneys. All characters in the text are printed in simplified Chinese. The top band reads 江西卫生材料厂 ‘jiang xi wei sheng cai liao chang’, which refers to the health products factory in Jiangxi. The three characters on the right are: 双鴿牌 ‘shuang ge pai’, which indicates that the face mask is one of the products of the ‘Double Pigeon Brand’. The lower column reads 本厂出品 ‘ben chang chu pin’, emphasising that this product is manufactured by their own factory. The left column below shows the size of the object: 14x17 cm, extra-large with 12 layers. The middle column indicates the name of the product: ‘Disinfecting Face Mask’. And the right column reveals the method of manufacture: it has been sealed first and then underwent the procedure of ‘high-pressure steam sterilisation (autoclave)’. The column below this shows the address of the factory: Wanli District, Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province. The bottom column is an announcement claiming that ‘this product has been unwrapped and must not be sold again.’
According to a list of ‘awarded new products in Jianxi’, this factory might still exist now, or at least until 1997(The list mentioned the ‘Double Pigeon Brand’ and also the factory name in 1997).
