Omani sword that may have been made in Zanzibar. The handle would have originally been covered in leather. The blade is probably locally made, not European. The sword dates to the early 19th century.

An Omani sword that may have been made in Zanzibar. The handle would have originally been covered in leather. The blade is probably locally made, not European. Early 19th century.The blade on this sword is more flexible than a European blade. The blade is flexible, partly so that it quivers when the hilt is struck whilst dancing. This is not a high status sword, and was probably used by a tribesman.
