Long paddle of black palm wood, of plano-convex section with a leaf shaped blade and tapering, pointed butt. On the convex side, the blade has a central ridge carved into it, running a quarter of the way down the paddle. On the flat side, a similar ridge runs a few centimetres down from the tip also. The lower third of the shaft is wrapped in a coil of split bamboo, which is now fragmentary. The flat side shows some evidence of having been formerly painted black down one side.
