Glove puppet, kuguruk, possibly of character Palvan Kachal, a local folk hero. Puppet is of an old man; wispy white eyebrows, moustache and goatee beard; beaky nose; dark-brown complexion. Dressed in a tall, pointed hat of blue cloth with a red and black brim into which several feathers are tucked (feathers indicate Kazak and shamanistic influences). The character is dressed in a striped robe (KHALAT) with the colours: red, black, light blue, dark blue, green. The robe is trimmed around the front opening, cuffs and hem with glitzy fabric showing gold chevrons and flowers in pink, blue and yellow. The puppets padded hands are very clean, suggesting that the puppet had not seen much use at time of purchase.
Palvan Kachal (possibly)
