waistband (belts (clothing: accessories)); textile; obi

Long, twill-woven woman's silk sash, obi. The textile has interwoven decoration of 3 sets of gold-coloured, matt cream, shiny white and red floral motifs, possibly peonies, on one half only. The sash appears to have been made from a length of cloth which has been folded over to line itself. The fold is marked by 2 narrow, gold-coloured stripes on the front. Between the central floral motif and the second one along the sash has been folded lengthwise, and the less decorated half has been sewn together along the outside edge. This narrows the sash.
