Lidded porcelain jar of barrel shape with recessed base. Two rows of dotted protuberances on the upper and lower part of the jar. Covered with clear glaze and painted with overglazed polychrome enamel, so-called falangcai porcelain. Exterior is painted with deep pink enamel with incised scrolling pattern, and with two reserved ogival panels enclosing landscape scenes painted in polychrome overglazed enamel, a landscape scene with a boat on a river on one side, and a boat in a bamboo grove on the other. A mark in red enamel is stamped on base: zhongguo jingdezhen zhi, meaning made in Jingzhen, China. The lid has a stopper and an openwork top with a coin design, tied with gold thread. On acquisition there were two dice inside the jar, a small pale blue die made of stone or glass and a large white die made of bone.
