A heddle stick: it is a long piece of wood with a circular profile and a point at each end. To it is attached a long, thin cord which is looped over the heddle stick and under every odd warp. A wooden handle is tied to the centre of the heddle stick. Known as a 'aju genu, aju iki' (or 'aju hohe), it is made of areca catechu (Lat.) wood.
