Cornet in B-flat, high pitch. Brass body. Three Périnet valves, compensating system. One shank. Mouthpiece is missing. Stamp on bell reads: FB[in highly stylised script]/ CLASS/A/Enharmonic/Patented/50 MEDALS OF HONOUR/BESSON & Co./"Prototype"/198 EUSTON ROAD/LONDON. Stamp on lower section of second valve casing reads: BESSON & Co./BREVETE/86456. The valve casings and caps are also stamped with the letters 7, 8 and 9 respectively.
