Hand woven textile: made up of sashes stitched together; main colour off-white, with colourful edges (black-and-white patterns surrounded by green, yellow and red stripes).
Fula (or ‘Peul’) cloth, the contemporary pieces (like this one) have replaced the more traditional ‘arkilla’ that were wedding gifts and used for decorating walls inside the homes, or as bedspreads. The colours green, yellow and red suggest that it relates to the Malian national flag.
