

Man's mantle, selimut, hand woven on homespun yarn dyed brown and russet in natural dyestuffs, with patterning in warp ikat, luka semba. Set of stripes runs along the length of the cloth next to the selvedges, the three main stripes of which contain ikat designs of which the outer two are chiefly dentate. Main field decorated in bands of motifs based on patola design. At each end a triple band of designs, the outer two containing dotted motifs, the inner a zig zag pattern. Warp ends are left loose.
