Bolt of handmade ‘atlas’ silk from Jaya village near Khotan, Xinjiang, Uyghur Autonomous Region of China collected in1991. Double weave so that one face has a white resist-dyed ikat pattern on black with a yellow strip along the selvedge, the reverse is a white resist-dyed ikat pattern against maroon.
These objects are only a part of our collections, of which there are more than 350,000 objects. This information comes from our collections database.
