Monguor (Tu) woman’s dress ornament obtained near Kumbum monastery (Xining in Qinghai province, China) Hangs on front or back. Formed of two long rectangular strips of black cotton fabric joined by two lengths of ribbon. The surface of each strip is decorated with five sections of floral embroidery, chiefly in satin stitch, two including animal motifs. One length of ribbon and two of fabric applied across each piece. Each length has two loops and two blue buttons at the top. From one button of each piece a rosette made of folded and stitched fabric is suspended, with four red bead and green thread tassels below. Cream fringe at the bottom. Lined with machine-printed white cloth with multi-coloured dots.
