amulet; container (general & multipurpose)

A silver amulet case, Afghanistan. The amulet consists of an octagonal box with a hinged lid decorated with bands of embossed decoration following the outline of the box; the central decoration with elements of Arabic script. The box has a loop on either side which fits between pairs of loops on two cylindrical elements of similar material decorated with diagonal bands of floral and vegetal scrolling. Each of these has an additional loop on the opposite side.
