Figure of Guanyin (Goddess of Mercy), made of carved wood painted with brownish orange and black lacquer. She is depicted holding a child on her right knee. She is also known as "Songzi Guanyin" (Child-giving Guanyin), and is a popular female deity worshipped by women who desire to have children.
