We strongly advise visitors to book tickets in advance to avoid queuing, due to reduced till points at the Ticket Desk. Some paths are closed around the entrance while we do improvement works in the Gardens. Please follow signs on site.
One of a set of paintings depicting scenes of Manipuri ceremonies and Manipuris. This one portrays a figure sitting in state beside a stretch of water with the prow of a boat visible. A typewritten caption inserted behind the frame reads: 'The Captain of the Boat sitting in state before the start'.
These objects are only a part of our collections, of which there are more than 350,000 objects. This information comes from our collections database. Some of this is incomplete and there may be errors. This part of the website is also still under construction, so there may be some fields repeated or incorrectly formatted information.
