Sleeveless cotton jacket, 'kalambi', worn by men and women. It is collarless and has two buttons. The outside is made from warp faced red cotton cloth: the lower front is patterned with zig zags in blue and cream (discontinuous supplementary weft). Above is a band of floral-like motifs (three in a horizontal row) framed by geometric motifs (using a needle-darning technique). Towards the sides fine two and three coloured stripes run from the shoulders to the hem, both front and back. The back of the jacket is elaborately patterned. At the bottom are three rows of similarly styled anthropomorphic motifs, and another towards the top. Between is a band of animal-like motifs. Both top and bottom have yellow, dark blue and cream applied cotton strips. The inside has an ikat stripe in tones of brown, alternating with blue/light brown stripes. A cream-coloured rectangular fabric is stitched to the inside neckline and another to the lower left (wearer's viewpoint). [Textile]
