Astronomical compendium, gilt brass. Signed Humfrey Cole, 1590. Small circular box with lid combining a horizontal sundial for latitudes from 50 degrees to 57 degrees, with a nocturnal on the outside of the lid. There is a list of latitudes inside the lid. The underside of the case is inscribed: 'VIGILATE QVIA NESCITIS QUA HORA DOMINUS VESTER VENTURIS SIT (Awake, watch, for you know not at what hour your Lord will come). The gnomon for the horizontal dial is missing.
